You like putting your team in situations where they have to compete hard, because that's when they feel good about yourself. That's the kind of games you want going into the playoffs.

    The last couple games, we have made decisions that have come back to bite us. You have to look forward to the next game. You have to win four games to win a series, and the last time I looked nobody has won four yet.

    These moves will provide the club a great deal of stability as we continue to pursue our ultimate goal of bringing the Stanley Cup back to Dallas. I'm excited that the entire staff will remain together and we look forward to continued success both on and off the ice.

    Those are little mistakes, but it's not just the mistakes, but how you cover up for them after. How do you give up a breakaway from your own blue line That's just stupid play. There's no way to sugarcoat that. It's just not a smart play.

    You go through stages after getting bounced sooner than you'd hope to. You go through your angry stage, where you feel like you should still be playing. And then you go through the stage where you start planning and want to get things corrected. And then you get to the anxious stage, where you feel like you want to get going and get some of the planning out of the way. We're getting to the anxious stage here. We want to get going and see what we come up with.

    He not only understands the pressure of the game, but he has built pressure on himself with this thing and he completely understands it. Yesterday, all they wanted to talk about in the media was his shootout success, and he just ate it up. He knows it's there, and he loves it.

    He's one of our young guys who has the ability to score and put points on the board. There's always a transition coming over here, but we'll see how he adjusts as the level goes up through the exhibition games.

    I thought it was a revved up game. I think that's what you're going to see going forward.

    The goal is to win the game and you have 60 minutes. It just so happened that we used the last 20 to do that. It would be easier on the coaches' hair color if we led a little more.
