Carnell Williams Quotes (26 Quotes)

As a player, I would say yes, but also as an athlete I'd always want to do better and feel that I can do better. Coming into the season, you set your goals high.

I'm starting to feel it. But so much is still riding on this season, so much still riding on this next game, there's just no time to relax.

I definitely feel like we're a dynamic duo, ... You've got Michael Pittman, an excellent blocker, an excellent pass catcher. His ability to do that is going to allow both of us to be on the field at the same time. That's a double threat the defense has to worry about.

Williams could. The fifth overall pick in the draft said he talked to his father the other day about what to expect in his first game. They appeared to assume victory, so what were the specifics for the young tailback We said 150 yards, ... So I came up a little short.

I'm one of those people who believes in goals, so I set them high. I wanted to come in and run for well over 1,000 yards, win Rookie of the Year, go to the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.

We have a target on our backs now. The way we looked at (defending national champion) LSU last year we went out to prove to them we were good enough to beat them now, game one against Georgia Tech, they're going to look at us with a target on our backs. Coaches will have their teams hyped to beat us. We have to work harder than they do to be prepared.

Well, I think that hes, as opposed to last year, we didnt really look to run the ball first. We were really a passing team and I think that were getting more and more balanced now. Im not positive what our run-to-pass ratio is right now, but Im pretty sure its more run than it is pass. So, it gives us an ability to be more balanced, which is important.

I'm just hoping to make it through the season and be healthy.

The question has been thrown up a lot. People have been hounding me. There is no doubt I'm coming back. I have no intention of leaving school.

There were like 20 TV cameras there, and the whole school was packed into the little gym. There were a bunch of people from the community -- it was crazy in there. It was like I was about to get drafted. The only difference leading up to that was, I knew where I was going to play, even if no one else did. This time, people ask me where I'm gonna go, and I honestly have no idea.

I feel like every week I answer this question. I dont know that Im really that surprised. Obviously, being a number five pick in the draft, you expect the guy to have great talent, which he does. I guess if I was surprised about anything, I would say that hes been able to pick up on offense very quick, as far as the mental aspects of it. Now, we havent asked him to do everything, so its really been good for him to really focus on two or three areas of our offense and really excel at those areas. Im looking forward to him continuing to expand his knowledge of both the running game and the passing game. I think he can help us there.

I should be fine. I'm definitely in pain, but you never feel good. I'm always going to hurt.

It's not significant pain. It is sore, though. Overall, it feels good.

Go back to Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith and those guys. They weren't 230- or 240-pound backs, but they did it every week. So I'm thinking, why can't I do it ... In due time, we'll find out.

I'm definitely going to take care of those guys after the season. Right now, we are just focused on the playoffs and going down the stretch.

It's always been my dream to play on this level. Ever since I was a kid, playing football in the backyard, middle school, high school, college, I was working to get to this level. To come out here and be named offensive rookie of the year is an amazing accomplishment. That's a great honor.

Every time my phone rings, it's my mother saying, 'I saw you on this show. I saw you on this and that,' ... It's just kind of strange right now.

As a team, we feel the fourth quarter is our quarter, ... As a player, I feel the fourth quarter is my quarter. Any time the game is on the line, or we're trying to run out the clock or we need big plays, I'm there.

I was playing backyard football wanting to play organized football, but my mother wouldn't let me.

The next year, we had gone through all that and understood how to approach game after game. We had to focus on that game. We know what it takes to win hard work and dedication. Hopefully, we can keep it rolling. We are the (SEC) champions until somebody knocks us off.

There's still a little discomfort, but it's football. You're not going to go into every game feeling healthy. I definitely understand that. But overall, it actually did a lot better than I thought it was going to do today.

To me, this is just the third week. I'm in this thing for the long haul. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of my career. I know three games would not make that, therefore it really hasn't sunk in yet.

You know us ballplayers. We always feel like we can do just about anything. You've got to have that confidence playing this game that we play.
