Brian Durocher Quotes (54 Quotes)

It's an evolving rivalry. There is enough tradition that it should get people excited. Based on the first game, it should be on its way to becoming another great rivalry.

Our defense was a little bit of a problem, but it is a credit to them. UNH is quick, and that is one of the reasons why they are the best in the nation.

I said earlier in the season that I thought Maine had a chance to be a little bit of a sleeper team. We want to make sure, whether or not you call it being a spoiler or just playing as hard and as well as you can, that we represent Boston University well.

You always hope that your known goal scorers play well in the big games. Hopefully she steps forward and contributes as well as many of her teammates.

We need to try not to stretch the defense across the entire rink. We have to work from the middle of the rink out.

We can get 300-400 people here in Walter Brown. Knowing the bounces, playing in our own rink and the crowd noise from the fans help everybody play better.

We want opponents to know we are going to put up a fight. Unfortunately, we made it a little easier for Maine. We should have extra motivation the next time out.

It's not so much revenge as it is a constant pride to do as well as you can. A lot of these kids will play together this summer in different hockey venues, so it's a reclaiming of self-pride to get out there and win games.

I think the third period was our reward. We went through a time there, with the second game against BC, the game against Brown and last week's game against Harvard where we were putting in the hard work with no reward. The third was our reward and we were able to capitalize and put a couple goals in.

They're obviously not anyone we take lightly. They are definitely going to have some motivation. They obviously don't want to lose the season series to us, a first-year team.

Games are decided on special teams. Ultimately, we lost this battle against BC, and we want to improve that against Maine.

The goaltenders stood strong and kept it a tie. Give Brown a lot of credit for playing a great game.

It was a wonderful effort by her. We feed off of the goaltender because she keeps us in the game. We give her a lot of credit for putting us in a position to win.

The players had the character, heart and resiliency to show that the game up in Maine was a fluke.

The biggest disappointment was our slowness in the first period. We did not play with continuity, while Providence played sound defensively.

We didn't take advantage of a few of our good chances. Give their goalie and defense credit.

They are a team that is on par ability-wise with Boston College. People miss them due to their tough schedule so far. This will be considered a big game against one of the upper echelon teams in our league.

Brown has a long standing tradition of excellence. They are a well-coached team and a national power. We are excited for another good test.

We all remained very content with our overall effort. It was an excellent first season, and I am very appreciative of the effort put in by all of the players.

They beat us to rebounds on a few goals. Even so, we never quit.

The physicality is a little rivalry. But that stuff happens sometimes when you're tired - you don't have as much spring to avoid hits and you don't have as much control of your emotions and control of your body.

The most important thing is our belief that we can play a level game with this team. I want to see people moving around on the ice. It shows that you are loose and confident.

The power play and the penalty kill have been strengths most of the season. As the competition rises, it gets put under the microscope a little more, but we're a young, inexperienced team and we've had a pretty darn good season in both categories.

I didn't think at any part of the game we really brought our A game. We kind of hung in there and showed some heart, but at no point did we really control the game.

They had a little extra motivation to beat us after losing to us the last time out. It helped carry them. All in all, a top team played a solid game and got the better of us.

Wright-Ward was the player of the game for them. She was one of the three stars, getting a few goals and an assist.

There wasn't much to it. They picked off a pass and then took a good low shot that was tipped in.

A to Z it was a wonderful effort by her. I don't think she had any chance on either goal.

It's a wonderful tribute to the team that they've received the awards. We have more rookies than any other team, so we have more opportunities to be recognized in that category, but it's a great feather in their cap for the girls to play and be recognized in a league with plenty of upperclassmen and plenty of veterans.

The shutout was good for her confidence. She has had a wonderful season so far and it got her back into game rhythm after a long break.

They are a well-established team. We are not at their level, but I thought we played an organized and structured game with good energy.

We had a lot of heart and toughness. That was probably reflected best in the second time we played several teams, we came back and played extremely well to the point of even winning.

I wasn't concerned with the number of penalties, just the power play goals.

But whatever your system is, you still have to have good players and we had some kids who would shoot the puck and would get goals around the net.

The team is excited for the last two games here. They're excited to try and redeem their pride and respect against Maine.

They were penalties I could live with. Sometimes you go in strong and draw penalties. The ones that drive coaches crazy are the hooks from behind.

We should be better prepared this time around. We've got 21 freshmen that have played two-thirds of a Division I hockey season. They're more accustomed with the pace of the game and the ebb and flow of the game.

It's another test for us to be prepared and put our best foot forward. We want people to have a sense that BU comes to play every night.

We had two power play goals Saturday, but today we could not get deep enough in their zone. But I am happy with the way we played against a first-place team.

All I ever saw Sarah Russell play was forward. I asked her two days before the season started, 'What are your thoughts about playing defense' and she said, 'Oh I love it, I've played it all my life.' But she has wonderful stick skills and an innate confidence as a competitor, and she was clearly one of our top defensemen all year.

It was an absolute highlight reel goal. She picked up her own rebound out of the air and made a tremendous shot. She continues to play on a good roll.

It would be nice if we could come out and get the lead early. We've fought back a couple of times against this team, but if we can get that advantage early we can play a better game.

She played great. There was one play that I think went a little unnoticed where, late in the game, she made a save where she just tipped a puck and it hit off the post instead of hitting an open net, and it was little things like that where she came up big for us tonight.

Overall I think that Maine came out and played pretty solid in the first period. We had a nice second period and I thought a pretty controlled first 10 minutes of the third, and then things got a little messy and we had to hang on a little bit at the end.

It's a credit that we made games exciting into February. It's a credit to every kid in that locker room that played their heart out and played tremendous, but it obviously bodes well for the future.

The second period is a credit to Harvard. They can intimidate you with their speed, and we had to recreate a lot of offense for ourselves.
