Andrew Raycroft Quotes (29 Quotes)

Before the deadline, I was kind of expecting to go somewhere and it hurt a lot. Now it seems like there's a dozen teams I'm going to next summer. At this point, you laugh at it and see how the summer plays out.

The leg feels really good. I'm back in the mix and I'm healthy.

That definitely can happen. But there will be a lot going on in the summer and that's why it's so hard to speculate right now. There are going to be a lot of things change here in this organization (as it replaces fired general manager Mike O'Connell), a lot of (player) personnel changes, so it's hard to say which way it will go.

We worked real hard, and we were able to control territory. But we just kind of got ourselves in trouble at the end of shifts. It's those little things -- which we have been doing fantastically the last 6-7 games. We've really paid attention to it. Unfortunately (last night) they were able to take advantage of it.

I don't think Travis Green ever lets anyone off. In the middle of January he's letting them rip. But no, they were pretty good.

That was tough night. We didn't draw it up that way, that's for sure. We're trying to battle. We're trying to stay with them. But you play a good team like that, and they made some really good plays out there.

I think the main thing is we are pretty similar personality-wise off the ice. We're both pretty low key. We don't get to high or too low at any point at all. We like coming to the rink and having fun. It's easy to come in and talk to him and see what's going on. He talks about kids. He tells me what's going on. It's just a real easy relationship.

No, I like the game even though it can be pretty rough on goalies sometimes. I like it when we're scoring them the way we were tonight. I don't think there's much the goalies can do, but just be ready at all times, and the defenses will figure it out and get better. As long as we win, I'm fine with it.

We just didn't get the goals we needed and nowadays, if you only score two, you're not going to win most nights. They have some really skilled players up front who are very underrated and they made some nice plays out there. It's tough when you play as well as they do and you don't get the win.

We've just got to get over the hump here. You've got to bear down and not let guys get chances like that. We just can't let guys get those chances. Good teams don't do that, and it's frustrating.

It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season in 2003-04, I was on a two-way contract but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.

I don't think it will make much difference in the goal scoring. The guys will adjust to whatever they're wearing.

We definitely controlled possession of the game. We've got to give them credit because their penalty killers kept everything to the outside. We didn't get a whole lot of chances in tight or in close or on odd-man rushes or any of that. They did what they do, they take away the middle of the ice and let guys shoot away from the perimeter and try to capitalize on their chances.

The year after I got drafted, I was average, the team didn't have a very good year and we had a lot of problems. My last year of junior, that's when Bruins scout Gerry Cheevers started showing up more and assistant general manager Jeff Gorton started showing up. It seemed like someone was there almost every game and other scouts were watching in case I went back in the draft.

That's the new league. Three-nothing isn't safe. You have to give them credit, too. We didn't just completely quit. They came really hard. We were able to get out of the second, which was huge, at 3-2, and we hung on.

We can feel bad for ourselves, but no one else is going to. We've just got to go out and battle for each other. We have no choice.

We played well. We had a lot of possession and we did a lot of good things. We kind of cleaned up after the first, we cleaned up the odd-man rushes against us. You try to take the good with it.

He wants to be here as much as anyone. There's no questioning that, but at the same time, it's business. He's trying to get what he thinks he deserves. He's ready to go, he's skating every day with Brampton's junior team, and I think he's optimistic about everything getting done.

There was not as much pressure on me tonight knowing I hadn't played in a while. At the same time, if we had lost, we could have been eight points behind three teams.

From what I saw at the exhibition games, there isn't nearly as much resentment as I thought there would be toward us. I think that shows you how hockey fans feel. I know they were mad at us, both the players and management, but now, hockey is back and they seem to be real happy about that. It's a fresh start, and hopefully, a new season that will be a good one for us. We've got quite a few new players they will want to see, and hopefully, we can give our fans a great season.

All in all, it was definitely our best effort in the last four games for sure.

We thought the bottom was hit two nights ago and tonight we found a way to go lower. We've seen China.

I hope so. I think we're going to need everybody the next month-and-a-half, no matter what. We have 23 games in the next 40 nights. It's busy and it's hectic and we're going to need everybody.

It's tough when you play as well as they do and don't get a win.

It is more important to get on the ice than to do my testing. I'm sure if I was 40 pounds overweight, then they'd want to test me and give me a hard time, but I'm in pretty good shape.

It seemed pretty average, I mean, 2-1. I'm sure the NHL is banging on a desk somewhere, mad that it was 2-1. It didn't work tonight. It felt like the playoffs, the same kind of playoff game that we had two years ago.

I felt good on the ice, the first day is always hard. It felt better than I thought it would.

I guess, in a way, it's good that that didn't happen this past April. I don't think any of us who played in that series have forgotten it, though. I know it's a night I'll never forget.
