We've relied on Patrick a lot this year, but I feel confident in Charlie, Alex and the others. We've got the arms there. If we can get them to throw strikes that's my main concern. Charlie is our most consistent throwing strikes after Patrick. That's what I'm going to be looking for in the first game of the tournament.
More Quotes from Craig Beesley:
I knew we weren't as good as people were talking about. We started out 5-0, and Vidalia was the best team we played. And that was the first game of the year for both teams. When Patrick (McDonough) is on the mound, I feel good. And Zach (Calhoun) pitched well today. When you're as young as we are, we've just got to make the plays.Craig Beesley
We were hoping we could get that one over in five innings. We're still looking for that No. 2 pitcher. We didn't have the same intensity and focus we had last night (at St. Al). That was a big win last night, and it seemed like we left some of our intensity in Vicksburg.

That was two back-to-back triples leading off that inning. Patrick hit the ball hard all four at-bats. The two triples he hit were hard-hit balls. I hope he stays hot this weekend. I hope Charlie continues to hit well. He had a tough night tonight with one hit, but I'm not worrying about Charlie.

That's where we're struggling at right now swinging the bats and throwing strikes. We hadn't been playing normal Cathedral baseball. We've been struggling offensively and on the mound. We've been changing some people up and down in the lineup, and hopefully things will start coming together for Monday.

His our number one. He came in with people on base and threw strikes and that's what we needed.
