A richer meaning of the love chapter,
or so it is called, the meaning of love
revealed perhaps a little more clearly
when the translation isn’t love at all
When the words of scripture,
the counterpoint to faith, to power,
is charity, giving of ourselves to others
being present to be empathetic, compassionate
to see the needs of others, to act on them
to show love through charity, more humble,
more giving, more of the building up of the body
bringing others into community
through acts of charity
