Panic fills my chest
Angry that I didn’t find time
That my life got in the way
Ever present, tantalizing, taxing
Balance a struggle, excess no shelter
Assignments overwhelmed
Gave me paralysis – frozen, antsy
Body itches and burns
Procrastination (even this poem)
Other players making choices
Struggling with inadequacies
Slow reading, too much yellow
On the pages of the book
Cryptic notes in the margin
On the notebook sheets
Insufficient to make up
For missed reading
Thoughts that won’t jell
Arguments in shred
Other task undone
For fretting on this and that,
Wanting sleep
The quiet of the dark
Another day
To try to prepare
For the next
