Tithing, fasting, praying in the temple
so were the steps of the sinner
before the altar, the throne of God;
but he failed to see his sin,
the failings of his walk,
going through the motions
of the law before God
finding himself better
more worthy,
than his fellow sinner
each unworthy of God’s grace
by his deeds
