Looking out into the backyard,
over the shoulder of one of our cats,
The stranger year without snow
the warmth striking the ground
No snow covering,
the sunlight penetrating
a lot more motion
of the leaves, the squirrels
the brown and green combining
already poised, waiting,
waiting for the spring to come
