In story after story,
they didn’t exactly shine
with great understanding,
of the mystery unfolding around them,
in their midst,
dense, closed minds,
men of clay
Very human,
incapable disciples,
in the face of heavenly wisdom
truths beyond the mortal coil
the human mind
touching the robe, the hand
of God; seeing him as Messiah
but not connecting the dots,
the fullness of his meaning,
lost on them like the others
beyond their grasp
Lucky we are for the centuries
the ages of enlightenment
the telling and retelling of
the gospel in the Gospels,
the best news of the ages
A hope for all
