The message of the scripture
ringing in my ear
with me last night
as I went to him
More clearly now
in her mother’s words
the compassion of Christ
changing my point of view
Love not anger
empathy not vengeance
forgiving the boy who hurt our daughter
the way of Christ, the cross
Hard to let go of pain
to stand in the feet of our enemy
but we are called to love
in the radical way of Christ

at Pembroke and Allenstown Old Home Day
where a youth crashed into the porta-potties
while Shanequa was in them, scaring her greatly
and confronting him afterward
