The elegant maple
arms, almost equal
an arc, a spray of flowers,
a bow, curved against the sky
arms of the fan
calling the eye, to study
the beauty, the symmetry
skill of the creator
design in the capillaries,
the veins, the bronchioles
the alveoli, all of them exposed
dipped, thrust into the air,
gathering the scent of snow
pristine, elegant, stoic,
reverently placed,
standing resolute,
in the cold of winter
as I drive home
