IN the pride of her beauty a dear one is shining,
The year that so gracefully grew by our side:
The white and the green on her brow are entwining,
The summer is decking her out as a bride.
Come to her, Christmas! on wings of the morning,
Dwell with her here for a week of delight:
Then proudly, with jewels her chaplet adorning,
Bear her away in the chariot of Night.
