Never in all the world
has anyone lifted
such as cup as this
put it to his lips
drunk the dark liquid,
poison of our sin
knowing the fate
the journey
the pain
of the punishment
the cross
Bearing all
the bitter bile
more venomous
than hemlock
taken into his own hands
and drunk down
submitting his will
as we never can
to save us
