Sweet lady, I would sing to thee,
Of genial spring and summer’s bloom,
Plenteous autumn, rich and free,
Hoary winter with all its gloom.
In this thy spring, thy morn of life,
At once for coming time prepare,
For summer days are fraught with strife,
Ripe autumn brings on whitened hair;
And oh! may fall and winter be
No less joyous than thy spring.
Contentment, peace and pleasure see,
In serving God, and sweetly sing.
Substantial joys doth Jesus bring.
