Dear love, let’s not put away
Love against a rainy day;
You are careful, and would hoard
Some of that which can’t be stored;
For, like roses which are born
To die between a night and morn,
Being once plucked, being once worn,
So the rose of love’s delight
Only lasts a day or night;
Though roses die, shall there not be
Next morn new roses on the tree?
