There were seven items
on the shopping list, two more
than she had told me to buy
Seven items, a quick in and out of the store
back to work in a twinkling;
but I went to the store hungry
and the refrigerator was oh so empty
And twenty-five items,
not counting the Kool Aide packets,
I left the store.
Now the fridge is full
and the laundry can get done
and I have a salad for lunch
