The hands of the ferns
translucent in the melting
the frost bleeding to water
soon to be gone
Standing erect
hands like a peacock’s plumage
the ferns drying in the air
for all to see
Rice paper fingers
the hands of the fronds
a field of the ferns
aglow in the light
