Camellias are a blaze of blood-spewed crimson
As a lazy spring day dips past noon,
The water mill turns without a care.
Children sing nonsense rimes to their dance,
And downy chicks cull feed in the sunlight.
On a village path where shimmering heat drowses,
Knowing, unknowing, in a weary daze,
I stroke my gaunt cheeks and return.
