Wakonda,– unknown Wakonda,
Thou who slayeth with Light,
See the warrior bend
To propitiate thy might.
Gravely now he woos thee
With the Pipe of Peace,–
Facing the Four Winds’ Lodges
That storm and blight may cease.
God with the searing eyes
And crashing voice that rends–
Accept thy Red Son’s offering
As the smoke of peace ascends.
