Shyanne and Shanequa,
then still four and three
practiced scene stealers,
carrying adorned baskets
of the rose petals,
bouquets we had given to one another
Sprinkled, placed, covering
the center aisle, the Narthex
to the Chancel, the sanctuary blessed
petals, pieces of love
to mark this day
