They were people like us,
not leaders of the law, of the Temple
working for a living, by the sweat of their brow
a carpenter, fishermen, a tent maker, a tax collector,
others like them, trades people, working class men
changing the face of creation, toppling the orthodoxy
bringing forth a new faith, changing the rules
turning away from the past, though not fully
Turning to Christ, to the cross, to the open tomb
speaking boldly, with power, with authority
Healing in the name of Christ
Sending shockwaves through the world
echoing still today
