On Pisgah each must stand,
And in a fruitful land
Afar descried,
Behold with longing eyes
Some promised Paradise
Of bliss denied.
And each on Calvary
Upon his cross must be
A sacrifice;
Where, Christ-like, two between—
For Life or Death unseen—
The victim dies.
