Do you despair with all
these conurbations above you?
They are the legions the God-
Man was unwilling to summon.
After the last symphony, the last
painting, electricity will continue.
There are new forms and new media
the brilliance of his mind blinds us to.
When from the human tree the last
leaf will have fallen on the last grave.
the tree of heaven will be alive still
with thoughts resting momentarily
on migration.
