The sad cypresses cast their shadows
And weep above the opalescent pool,
The silence broken!
Who stirs? A bird with flapping wings and startled cry;
It swoops to kiss upon the moon-mad pool
And every hour across the scented path
Come straying shadows pointing through the grass,
As if accusing fingers pointed out
My onely self secluded in the night.
