You have been on my mind, constantly, urgently, tenderly.
We are miles apart, time zones away;
but you are with me still, in the smiles of their faces
in the moments we have shared
the videotape of our wedding that made me cry again
when I watched it in our living room.
Hearing once more our words of love,
of a covenant, a commitment before dad and God
How easy it is, to say “I love you” over the crackling wire
the echo of your voice on the speaker
It brings you home for those precious seconds
giving me a foretaste of your return
how close I will hold you.
How much I need you, with me
