Pandora’s Box
Burst open a year ago today
Because you gave us an assignment
To read a poem.
I took a risk.
And was rewarded
Beyond measure.
A silent voice
Spoke for the first time
Clear and strong and with something to share
Of beauty, of imagery, of strong emotion
Words pouring out
Through a crack in the dam
Of my heart
Wanting to be heard and seen
Hoping to touch others as
They feel what I reveal,
Free to be
Who I am
New sensations of
Pure emotions
Finding form and shape
On the printed page,
Letting me breath new air
Learning to live.
