Glacial faces
before the calving
the granite ledges, bedrock
framing the highway, interstate
plates and layers, uplifted
imperceptibly crumbling
over time
If only the rocks could speak
of the millennia they have witnessed
above the soil since the glaciers
coursed over their faces
