Not a king, Messiah
the child of the carpenter
in his hometown only
Joseph’s oldest son
Yet here the Christ-child
claimed his calling
standing in the synagogue
reading the ancient words
In their unbelieving
his itinerancy started
seeking those who would believe
wherever he was led,
wherever he would go
