Turning toward Jerusalem
going with the Christ
with his disciples
on the way
to David’s city
On the road covered with palms
going to the upper room
the garden too
where Jesus prayed
In the city, the temple
calling the leaders
the money changes to task
overturning their tables
There when he was betrayed
when their belief shook
when they doubted
they denied,
when they ran away
Watching, in our fear,
the false trial, the mob
lies before the Sanhedrin
his lashes at Roman hands
His sentence, death
the shame, the gauntlet
wearing the crown, the thorns
going to the skull
nailed to the cross
When he died
crying out to God
darkness, the temple
the curtain torn to the ground
The cross, the grave,
the darkness of the tomb
Glorious Easter
the whole world set to right
