With that urgent hope,
a teacher started her day
holding the hand of a young child
at the beginning of the school day,
asking anyone, anyone around
why is she wet, I hope that is water
really, I hope, I pray that is just water
language barriers, youthful exuberance
she was turned around by the running
the laughing, the children in the school yard
waiting for the call to line up
holding on tight to her young charge
hoping it was water
