From folly, flight, dismay
relented, suddenly burst
my wintry liking out and gets
a gloss to the crudded sky.
Sun newly risen meets
rival a shining host.
Latecome in scrubby hill
country, still spring bids fair.
Word swears good markets found
where prices should not fail.
Soon migrant birds will land
here, settling pair by pair.
Wisely we take to bed.
A fine bird batters, caught
from our wild goose chase of love
not poverty-struck near-dead
but phoenix-flamed, shrewdly live,
rabid, impious, untaught.
