I called her a hero.
She blushed, a little bit,
demurred a bit, laughed.
Because she is what I said she is.
a person who went out on a limb,
sacrificed, persevered,
stayed the course, carried her cross
and fought the good fight.
She knew the risks, the cost, and stood her ground
and was counted when it counted.
Her mettle was tested,
in the crucible, the refining fire
of the law, the trial
and won a victory
for us all
