Even filtered sunlight,
through the storm clouds,
wedges of sun, piercing through
the sidewalk, the driveway, the sleet, snow
giving way, relenting, to the warming
the dark black of the road, heating
even with filtered light,
light winning over the opaque white
weak light still stronger, burning through
melting the grip of the ice, the snow
the path clearing, even as the snow falls
