Fed by the slack eddies
by the frozen shore
grew a chain
row on row, layer by layer
of hand dipped candles
of ice and frost
Suspended in and above the surface
of the brook and bank
flowing toward the bridge
A branch hovering over the water
the structure, the ceiling
on which the stalactites form
held in place
while the cold reigns.
