Waiting for the cup,
the blood of Christ
symbolized in the grape juice
kneeling at the rail
waiting my turn
a piece of bread sits
in the cup of my hands
gingerly held up
in prayerful silence
waiting for the cup,
the blood of Christ
to dip, to eat
the holy meal
in repentance,
in remembrance
The juice, rich and thick
drips onto my hands,
I drink it all in
from the cup of my hands
in prayerful silence
