Giving up his clothes
of shimmering light
donning the flesh of mankind
choosing to become clay
Christ descending to life
walking the dusty streets
leaving the courts of the lord
for earth here below
Though He is God
emptying himself, in love,
feeling our pain, our mortality,
walking as a servant of God
humbly to earth he came
