A hurried up party
in our bed this morning,
on top of the comforter, the blanket
toy tea set and imaginary orange soda
all too real pepperoni and green salad
with creamy Caesar dressing
early, before breakfast
presented by eager happy hands
giggling sisters
for mommy and me
this morning, after the start of our day
but the start of theirs,
before the cartoons,
a breakfast party
After we moved on to chores and work
they were there still, enjoying a video
goldfish, and each other’s company
on our bed, continuing the party
without us
