Be the water, the rain, the ice
beating on the unmovable rock
the drip, drip, furrowing,
changing the stone.
Be the roots of the seedling, the tree
growing, reaching into the crevasses,
the fissures, the cracks, the seams.
Be the wind, changing the world,
carrying the Word, blown sand,
seeds of change across the globe.
Be the light, illuminating the darkness
bringing hope to the farthest corners,
the darkest dungeons.
Be the Christ, the brother,
the first-born of the resurrection.
Be His love for the world,
sharing His message, His example,
Be His witness, in our time
for this troubled world.
