Claremont to Durham,
regular drive, autopilot
Rtes 103, 114, 9, 89, 4
Exit 5, New England College down the road
Aurora Borealis that night
Below the dome of the stars
in the February sky
Pull over to the shoulder
Visible breath
Dancing lights, flickering stars
sway to the images
Stored on rods and cones
Turquoise and ruby red grapefruit
Pale canary and pure blue
Froze me for a while
Separated from my journey
By the light show,
the echo of the solar flares
