Not first, not even close
at the end of the line
the last to be served
a servant instead
A hard lesson
a truth to be revealed
God’s path, our savior’s way
so unlike the way of the world
A servant of all, so we must be
to claim the name
Children of God
Our master, the king
humbled on the cross
on the hill of Calvary
Choosing to serve
to bring us home to God
We are his brothers,
his sisters of the faith
picking up our cross
the towel, our hands
to serve his wayward sheep
