Too many readings
of this holy scripture
focus on the sheep
the calling of the flock
the judgment of the meek
The story doesn’t end
with the rapture of the sheep
the Lord continued
with the judgment of the goats
This telling of the coming
the dividing of the peoples
like wheat and the tares
growing side by side
The tares, the goats
destined for the fire
culled from the harvest
on that judgment day
