She sat beside me in the car
a dark skirt
a white, hand stitched blouse
with bright Andean characters, dolls
Sunlight poured through the windshield
making her violet shawl
drink it into the wool
radiating color,
a singular band of the spectrum
clear, bright violet
the outer band of the arc, the bow
living color,
wrapped around her shoulders
