Angry, oooh were they angry .
bursting, flying out of that hole,
next to the foundation
by the lilac bush
after he lit the gasoline.
A Pillar of Fire,
or more of a swarm
on fire
A cloud of flaming bees
charging at us, like in a cartoon
as we dropped the gas can, the bucket
and ran out into the yard
A failed attempt to rid ourselves
of the nest in the ground
by their bedroom window
Back to the drawing board
and some equally dangerous scheme
to show we can outsmart the bees,
which wasn’t looking good so far,
after the water in the basement,
the stings trying to cover the hole
and the pillar of fire
