A patina of haze
filled my vision
hung heavy in the shimmering air
high in the nineties they said
but oh so much more
shirt drenched
even when idle
mind losing focus
numbed by the heat
vapor waves
off the recent wet grass
rising to eye level
or a little more
held down by the weight,
the thick
of the air
