A face smiled at me
from across the room
caught in the shadows and folds
of the floral patterned valance
above the window in the bedroom
watching me fall to sleep
a head alone, a male face
tilted slightly to his right
a broad chin, a slight smile
the ridge of his nose
two eyes stet just as they should be
not to wide, certainly not beady.
a left jaw line, hint of an ear
forehead melting into bunting and gathers
noticed for the first time
