So seriously, so purposely
saying the words, fulfilling them as well
“In this house, in this kitchen,
the first ingredient of any recipe is
a can of cat food”. And so it was,
the blueberry pancakes preceded
by a can of cat food for Max.
A few bites later, no more than a taste
he left satisfied, approving of our feast.
No longer underfoot,
actually nowhere to be found
the king of the castle, gone for a nap
