Driveby friendships
in the inbetween times
the gaps, spaces
between classes, lunch, studying
caught in line, in the hall,
bookstore, library
“how’s it going”
On the fly
“see ya later”
Trite, clipped conversation
vacuous, guarded
when time doesn’t slow
to allow reflection, insight,
real sharing
Wondering what
they would do/say
If you actually answered
the throw away
– How’s it going?
