It's just such a good town. I always get sad when I leave, ... I play really sad music all the way out to the airport -- tons of outlaw country and western like Willie, Waylon, Johnny.

You can tell they're all having fun, as Johnny Cash sings that he'll live forever, coming back like a single drop of rain again and again. Waylon Jennings joins in with more of such verse, all of it in the vein of some down-home Longfellow. With the four of us, we had 135 years on the road, ... I almost did live forever.
For Waylon, it was always about the music. The only spotlight he ever cared about was the one on him while he was onstage. It wasn't about the awards or events. He was an original and a pioneer in terms of creating his own sound. This is a great loss for the music world.

I miss him already. He was a unique person and a dear friend. If a record came on the radio, you'd know it was Waylon Jennings.
My favorite song is 'I've Always Been Crazy,' because people tell me I'm crazy everything I tell them I want to do something like this. And maybe I am, but that's OK. I do what I want to do, just like Waylon and Shooter.
