    I think that the boys are about to hit their peak. They have skied better and better each week despite the loss of two crucial members of the team. They are in good shape going into the last weeks before the state finals.

    Basically, I skied sections today good enough to win, but I still made a couple of mistakes. I know that I need to be more consistent. Each race, I'm getting more confident, and I think with that comes consistency.

    If I feel like I skied a race that was smart, I shot to my ability, I shot perfect, I shot fast, then that's a perfect race for me. And if a perfect race can get me on the podium, great. But if it doesn't, I'll still be happy with the perfect race.

    I absolutely skied the way I wanted, but when I looked at the board and saw that the way I wanted got a fourth, there was a moment of disappointment. But then it goes away for me right away. This was a confidence builder.


    The NCAA Championships turned out to be a success for us. It wasn't as well as we were hoping, but we battled from fifth place after the first day to second in the end. Even if we had skied up to our potential, Colorado was unbeatable. The best team won this week. We were the second best and that is where we finished. I am proud of our coaches and athletes and their efforts to make us a national powerhouse in skiing. The future looks good and many of these same skiers will be back next year.

    My first run was bad. Training between runs was bad. Waiting (for other competitors to finish) was the most nervous I've ever been in my life. I skied a slow, conservative run, but it was solid. It was really clean, and I think that's what won it for me.

    He absolutely came out of the gate with the pedal to the floor and skied that way the whole way. He's one of those guys who has the right skills for this hill, and if he skis 100 percent and doesn't make the big mistake that costs you the time, he's a pick to win on this hill every time.
